Welcome to We Did Build It….

On Friday, July 13, 2012, Barack Obama continued his assault on you, one of
America’s exceptional entrepreneurs. His infamous, “You didn’t build that” speech
clearly shows his true desire for a government-centered economy.
But we won’t let that happen. Not on our watch. Not in our America.

My name is Dennis Wright and I build this. I have had a passion for Old-Time Radio shows for over three decades and in 2001 after years of collecting I started Audio Adventure as a way to share my unique hobby with the rest of the world.
Vice President Al Gore did not invent the internet as he stated in the past and President Obama, the government might have played a role in the creation of the Internet, but it was private enterprise that made it was is today.
Today millions of American have used the Internet to create wealth and addtional income for their families.
As a small business owner, it was me not the Government that build our website. I answer the phone, reply to emails, ship orders and take out the trash.

I started my decorative concrete company on a shoestring budget, building relationships and a customer base through my own hardwork and endless hours. I have had employees over the years but am now down to just one, me.
Only time will tell if a continued presence in the business community will be a reality.

I only hope that with less intrusion in business with a new administraion in the white house, we will all be able to prosper and breathe a sigh of relief.

I started my one-man engineering consultancy as a teenager, at a time when micro-controller and micro-processor chips were so new that I could compete for design wins because everyone in that arena was a "small fry". After college, I tried to work for someone else for a time, but returned to working for myself because it provided me with a better chance to design the products I thought were interesting and challenging. Fortunately, by this time the Reagan Revolution was in full swing and this helped me re-start my business in an environment friendly to entrepreneurs. Of course, that didn't mean that I didn't have to work lots of 80+ hour weeks -- like lots of small business people -- but it did mean that I didn't have to spend too many hours working to meet regulatory requirements or pay excessive taxes. I bank-rolled my start-up using nothing but my credit cards and (eventually) bank loans, and I BUILT IT myself, without government-backed loans or other programs.

Since then, I've worked through the ups and downs in the economy that affects me by affecting my prospective clients. However, I have never experienced a downturn in my clients' business prospects as grave as the one we are in how. At this point Government isn't helping BUILD, but is doing a bang up job on DEMOLISHING.

As just one example, Obamacare has recently made it MORE EXPENSIVE for me to provide health care for my wife and I through my business and thus more likely that we will be in jeopardy of losing our health insurance. How do I know the expense was from Obamacare and not normal price increases? Simple -- AND INCONTROVERTIBLE: since my wife and I can't have kids and I have never had any employees other than myself, I made sure years ago to select a health insurance policy that expressly excluded Maternity Care -- which can be quite expensive because of the nature (and litigiousness) of this area of medicine. Once Obamacare became law, however, my insurer informed me that my business could no longer "discriminate" by excluding Maternity Care and they could not legally offer me a policy without it! The Government, you see, thinks it knows better than I do what health care insurance I should buy. So, now I pay for Maternity Care coverage I can NEVER use, putting the lie to two promises of Obamacare: 1) I could NOT "keep the coverage" I wanted, and 2) I am now LESS likely to be able to afford insurance.

My company is based on prayer and Gods continual guidance. My only request to my state and federal government is to get out of the way.

I started my sign shop at the age of 21 with $1500 in savings. After working 70-100 hours every week for several years, my business thrived. I was able to employ several people over the years and we had the reputation of doing some of the best quality work around! As insurance and taxes (ie: government)continued to increase, I closed shop in 2005 to work for a local Hospice Pharmacy. Little did I know that 5 years later Obamacare would cause that company to completely restructure to remain competitive. After being let go in 2010, I started the sign shop again - in just 2 years - without advertising or cold calls - our reputation and hard work brought the level of business near what had been years previous!

For 13 years I worked the long hours, I paid the bills, I went without a paycheck, I took care of my customers and my employees. Government did nothing but get in my way and hold me back. So when President Obama insults me by telling me that 'I didn't build it' - I have to ask...Who the hell do you think you are? What did YOU build?

I borrowed $5,000.00 fresh out of college to start my business and worked upwards of three jobs on the side. I am still working 2 part-time jobs while running my business.

I worked hard to build a relationship with clients and the community over the past 10 years, sometimes working on weekends or working late into the night to assist clients with issues or help them meet deadlines.

I can answer the question, "Are you better off now than 4 years ago?" with "Yes" but it is not because of the government's nor President Obama's help, it is despite that. It is because of hard work, prayer and much trust in God.

I started my business working out of my home with what few resources I had. Long hours of door to door visits and cold calling realtors slowly began to pay off. As I was able to generate a little revenue, I began to purchase more equipment, afford more advertisement and eventually leave the home to set up shop in a professional office. Again, through long hours of hard work, many sleepless nights of stress wondering how bills would be paid and stress on my young family, I began to grow to a point where I would be able to hire employees. Twelve years later I am one of the largest inspection firms in my area, but I still strive to grow with long hours, hard work and still many sleepless nights. I built my business from the ground up. Literally. No goverment funding, subsidy or hand out was even considered. The pride I feel for my accomplishments is only trumped by my pride for my children who I have already begun to instill the values of being a real business owner. Not a government dependent.

I started Scaled Dynamics in 2010 with $7 in my checking account. It was founded in my second bedroom and for months I served as the sole Salesman, Programmer, Network Engineer, IT Guy, Lawyer, and Direction-Setter.

After 2 years of mind-numbing 18 hour days without any government "help," we have become a profitable software vendor and consulting firm.

I can point to my firm and say with complete certainty that I did indeed build that. It wasn't handed to me, and it did not come easy.

With an idea, and "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" as the guiding principle, I raised money from friends to start a company in 1998. In the years that followed, we were able to >>BUILD<< a company that now employs 80+ people.

I'm an individual, who had an idea, teamed up with great people that are smart and we built a great business. No government help... just a lot of rules and regulations to navigate before we could succeed, but no assistance.

The sum total of the 14+ years of operation is over 1,000 "man-years" of employment that has been created for the families of our staff.

We have had ups and downs, great times and tough times, but all-in-all we have produced great goods and services, filled the need of the industry and BUILT a great company together.

To say: "You didn't build that!" is either disingenuous or based on ignorance of how America works.

Get the government out of the way!
